Looking for something to do that everyone will enjoy? Well look no further, there’s heaps of family fun in Yeppoon and Rockhampton in the Southern Great Barrier Reef. There’s something for everyone!

Make a Splash! 

The kids will love playing at the Keppel Kraken right in the heart of Yeppoon. Featuring a mythical sea creature. including water cannons, jets and a unique umbrella bucket. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a barbeque or picnic.

Roll out the blanket and enjoy a picnic or BBQ at the Yeppoon Lagoon, with a kid’s water area and swim up infinity pool. After all that great family fun at the Yeppoon Lagoon, treat yourself and the kids an ice-cream from the kiosk.

Not far from the Yeppoon Lagoon is Appleton Park with a huge playground featuring a skate ramp. With barbeques and tables available.

 

Be decked out 

Let the kids will be entertained while you sit and relax on a deck overlooking the ocean. Right across from Yeppoon main beach is Keppel Bay Sailing Club with the Keppel Islands as the backdrop.

 

Snap up a good feed 

Have you ever wondered what crocodile meat tasted like? Try some crocodile meat in a Crocodile Pie, Crocodile Kebabs and Crocodile Ribs which are just a few of the delicious dishes on the menu.

Visit Queensland’s first crocodile farm. Take a tour, you’ll be surprised about the things you didn’t know about crocodiles from your very knowledgeable guide. Meet some of the big boys - Fitzroy, Alfie, Mason & Rocky. Have you ever wondered what a crocodile’s skin feels like? well you’ll know the answer after a tour.

 

Talk to the animals 

Get up and close with the animals at Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary. Say hello to the Dingoes – Dino and Diva, the Rufous Bettong – Ollie and Candy the Koala.

Ever wondered what a snake feels like? Be sure to catch their animal encounter at 1pm.

Pack up the kids and pack a picnic lunch and have a great day that will have the kids running around with excitement.

Spend the day (or even longer) at Great Keppel Island. There’s something for the whole family from exploring the fringing reefs, having a friendly game of beach cricket, waddling in the ocean, hiking to the lookout or just simply relaxing, what a great way to spend the day.

Step back in time 

Nestled in the dry rainforest is this hidden natural attraction. You’ll be amazed by the interesting facts of the caves, look closely you’ll see a very rare and special fern growing in the caves and the tiniest cutest bats, you’ll even see where the summer solstice takes place which the only natural place this occurs in December and January.

There’s so much to discover at the Capricorn Caves, this makes a great family day out even the grandparents would love it!

Who doesn’t like Devonshire teas and a hot cuppa or dig into a burger. Or make splash in the pool on those hot days to cool off.

 

Be bowled over 

Chasing a thrill, there’s some serious fun that the whole family with enjoy! at Rocky Bowl and Leisure.

Get a hole in one with indoor glow in the dark mini golf, mission accepted with laser tag, test your driving skills in the bumper cars, there’s arcade games, a pool table and of course 10 pin bowling! After working up an appetite grab a snack and a cool drink from the café.

Head to Rocky Bowl and Leisure for some family fun and good times!

 

Tame the animals 

You’re sure to score a goal when you take the kids to Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo.With open grassed areas to kick a ball, a playground to swing in, gardens to explore and animals to see at the Zoo.

Enjoy a bite to eat at the Gardens Tearooms making it an easy family day out. The café is located under the 100-year-old Banyan Fig Trees.

After lunch join the Zoo Keepers as they feed the animals. Have you seen baby Capri? She’s adorable! Awe at the heaviest bird in Australia, the Cassowary and the near-threatened Southern hairy-nosed wombat.
