Leathersmithing | Make Your Own Zip Clutch Purse
Be creative and learn the basic steps and tool applications to make this fabulous fashion clutch purse using vegetable tanned natural cow hide.
This one-day workshop will include techniques, tips and hints on more advanced leathersmithing concepts. These will include discussions on moisture content, how to use leather craft tools to create interesting patterns, and how to hand-stitch leather.
Your project will have a unique and personal touch with your own creative style. Participants are encouraged to develop their individual style and are assisted with experimenting and exploring the creative potential of leather.
Techniques that you will experiment with include: cutting, creative stamping, how to colour using both leather dyes and antique finishes. The artist educator will discuss and demonstrate the varied options of working with a combination of both dyes, as well as finishing edges, lacing, set rivets, snaps and other hardware.
Hand-sew the zip on your clutch, and then decide between finishing the purse with a stitched edge or a lace one.
All materials and tools are provided.
