Rhapsody in Blue

Jazz, blues and classical music unite in an exciting fusion as the Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra presents George Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in Blue’. This captivating piano concerto leads our exploration of swingin’ tunes from the 1920’s-1950’s, featuring orchestral arrangements from jazz icons such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and Ella Fitzgerald.

You will be spellbound by Concert Pianist Simon Tedeschi – winner of Symphony Australia’s Young Performer of the Year award; a recording artist with Sony Music Australia; and an ARIA award nominee. Simon will perform alongside phenomenal clarinet and saxophone virtuoso, Andy Firth, who is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding jazz clarinet players in the world today.

Our soloists will take to the stage with 60 of Rockhampton’s talented orchestral musicians, under the baton of Guest Conductor Sean O’Boyle. You won’t want to miss this!

Proudly supported by Rockhampton Regional Council, Triple M, the Morning Bulletin and the Capricornian.
