Th GKI is a trail run event held annually on Great Keppel Island.

The run caters for a range of participants including those that are more interested in exploring the island, to those looking for a physical challenge.

Distances include 10, 15, 20 and 27 km options over a variety of terrain that includes up to eight beaches, sandy and rocky trails, sand dunes and rocky outcrops. There are also a couple of hills and ridges that repay your effort with spectacular views (total 27km course elevation is 800m).

For those wanting to maximise enjoyment of the island, organisers recommend staying overnight but for those making the day-trip ferry services are available that will get you to the 8am start (booking essential) and back to Yeppoon by 5:30pm.
